Let’s Polka

Updated: Feb 11, 2020

This spring, in addition to the usual floral patterns imposed on us, the people that decide what we should be wearing have concluded that polka dots are a must. Michael Kors, Zara, Topshop, J Crew and H&M to name a few, have all included polka dots in their spring collections. There is nothing new happening here as polka dots have always been a safe bet for all seasons. The main difference in 2020 seems to be that they are available in a lot of different dot sizes and color combinations. The driving force for this trend are the luxury brands such as Balmain. Polka dots are to be seen on shoes, tops, bags, pants and dresses. Homeware haven't been left out either as beddings and kitchenware are in on the print.

This trend can be worn day or night as recently demonstrated when Zoë Kravitz wore a polka dot dress by Saint Laurent to the Golden Globes and nearly broke the internet. Scarlet Johansson recently pulled off a similar look at the Spirit awards proving that this trend is here to stay. These looks are exactly the kind of boldness you should expect to see in shops in the next few weeks.
