Remini-Scents

Updated: Dec 23, 2019

A whiff of Sisley's Eau du Soir and I'm immediately taken back to times spent with my Mum. We live in separate countries and I only see her a couple of times a year. Eau du Soir evokes feelings of homesickness when I'm not with her and when she visits, the lingering smell is very comforting. Dior's J'adore reminds me of my Aunt who went through a phase where this was her favorite perfume. I associate scents with people, times and places in my life and I feel blessed that these are mostly positive memories for me.

I'm always using scents to recreate situations I want to hang on to. I love London and I associate Molton Brown's Orange & Bergamot with it. It was a common scent in people's homes and it reminds me of John Lewis' department store for some reason I can't explain. At home, I use the reed diffuser with this scent to take me back to hanging out with my friends in the city that shaped me.

Which fragrance really matches up to my personality? Which perfume will remind people of me? I'm not sure I can be a one scent person but instead, I see my signature as being a variety of perfumes, each worn depending on my mood. I wear perfume as the finishing touch to my outfit; almost like choosing which bag to carry. I wear Tiffany's Eau de Parfum as my daily scent as it's fresh and crisp and I get a lot of compliments on it. Chanel's Gabrielle, I reserve for days that I'm dressed up and off to a special occasion. I use my husband's Dior Gris Montaigne (also known as Gris Dior) when I'm feeling bold and Clinique's Happy when I'm running errands at the weekends.

To choose a perfume, I usually check to see whether they are floral, fruity or spicy. Basic, I know; but it works for me. I love floral perfumes as my choices above dictate. Next, I get samples that I try on for a day or two before deciding to commit to it. Sometimes though, one whiff is all that's needed and this was the case with the Chanel Gabrielle.

There are may different perfumes, diffusers, scented candles etc. to help us connect to pleasant memories of loved ones and places and there is something for every budget; go on and treat yourself to a new scent to usher in the new year!
